The first half of my three night stay was basically lost to the effects of partying with a large group from a notorious Californian party school. As fun as that was, it meant that I really only had a day and a half to see Köln. Luckily Köln isn’t the most exciting place in the world and that was about the right amount of time needed to see the points of interest. I imagine it might have been a bit challenging to find stuff to do with an extra day if I had it. That’s because there are really only a few landmarks and points of interest, like the DOM cathedral, the Kölner Triangle, the Hohenzollern rail bridge over the Rhine river. There is also a nice collection of parks along the river and surrounding the inner city. That is how I spent my usable time in Köln, and while I won’t complain about it, it certainly wasn’t exciting. It reminds me of Stuttgart really, like a place where tourists are an afterthought. It’s a city of business and living, not sight seeing and entertainment.
